In the spirit of everything Manchester. EM were lucky enough to be given time to photograph and interview Salford very own The Whip. While most of you were out getting lairy and doing those irreputable things only the likes of £1.50 Vodbulls make you do. We were in an underground car-park somewhere underneath Piccadilly. (gold star for anyone who guesses where?) talking to the band. While we’re keeping the interview to ourselves until we next hit print, we will treat all you seemingly student-y types with some pictures of the lovely lot in action during their soundcheck.
We would have had a bit more to show, but due to our decreasing mobility and act of needing to be in bed by 10pm, we politely declined our guestlist spots, and thus our oppurtunity to take some direct band pictures. However, dictaphone in hand the interview was done. The live shots were taken. And EM went on it’s way buzzing possibly a little too much off Fee’s smile, and the style and aplomb with which it was pulled off.
We’re sure most of you know we live in the age of technology, and we can’t all still use quills and papyrus paper. This is the Essential Manchester blog, just an offshoot of the magazine, for those of you who can’t wait a month to find out what’s been going on in and around Manchester, musically and otherwise.
Well aim to keep this up-to-date, with what’s going to be in the next issue, smaller articles that we haven’t found room in the print version, and the day to day goings on here at Casa Del Essential.
Whether your taste in music is mainstream, or borderline subterraneal, we’ll try and cater for all your needs.
Ranging from decent nights out, up-and-coming artists, already ‘up’ artists, and just general nonsensical musings with all things Mancunian.
We aim to cover one or two bands per issue, that aren’t from our fair city, so if you have any suggestions or want to point is the direction of a band, let us know: essentialmanchester@live.co.uk.
Spread the word, like a loose girl spreads her legs.
Essential Manchester is making the underground accessible!
